چکیده

A short recirculating fiber loop (-100 km) that can emulate PMD with Maxwellianstatistics is realized by loop-synchronous polarization scrambling inside the loop. Theperformance of our distribution-correct PMD loop is compared both experimentally andnumerically to that of a distribution-incorrect PMD loop.©2000 Optical Society of AmericaOCIS codes: (060.2330) Fiber optics communications; (060.2360) Fiber optics links and subsystems

Suppression of Four Wave Mixing Based on the Pairing Combinations of Differently Linear-Polarized Optical Signals in WDM System

Data transmission in optical systems and increased transmission distance capacity benefit by using optical amplification wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology. The combination of four waves (FWM) is a non-linear effect in the wavelength division multiplex (WDM), when more than two wavelengths of light in a fiber launch will occur. FWM amount depends on the channel, the channel spaci...

Polarization mode dispersion compensation of chirped Bragg gratings used as chromatic dispersion compensators

Compensation of Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD) induced by a chirped Bragg grating is performed using a short length of highly birefringent fiber. A recirculating loop experiment demonstrates complete PMD compensation of the chirped Bragg grating. This simple method can be extended to deterministic PMD compensation of any components. Introduction: Pulse broadening induced by PMD is now an im...

Simulation of the Passive Recirculating Fiber Loop Buffer

The current trends within ultra high-speed optical time division multiplexed (OTDM) based communication systems dictate the increasing need for all optical buffering systems. Such systems inherently avoid the bottlenecks associated with optoelectrical (O/E) and electro-optical conversions (E/O). These buffers would enable the storage of data for discrete time intervals, and are necessary for ma...

Transport of Assigned Wavelength Channels Over Ultra-high Speed Ethernet All-Optical DWDM Networks Under Constraints of Fiber Chromatic and Polarization Mode Dispersion Effects

High speed 10Gb/s and 40 Gb/s optical Ethernet and SONET or SDH transmission systems carrying multiwavelength channels are considered as the backbone of the next generation optical metro-networking technological development. Under this ultra-high speed transmission and networking, dispersion effects due to linear chromatic and polarization differential mode group delays and nonlinear effects of...

Compensation of Polarization Mode Dispersion

The topic of thesis is “Compensation of Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD)” in Fiber optics communication and its impact on high speed data transmission. The work can be divided into three parts which deals with major aspects of PMD: characteristics, transmission and compensation. Polarization-mode dispersion (PMD), in single-mode optical fibers, is a phenomenon that a limit the bit-rate-distan...
